Monica Seles, one of the most talented players to ever take part in the tour, will be
inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame this summer. Seles won nine majors, 53 singles titles, six doubles titles, and was number 1 in the world for 178 weeks.

I am happy for Seles but surprised at the timing. I thought there was a rule about not being allowed in for about 5 years after retirement. Seles only officially retired recently. I did not think they counted from last match played. If so Mary Pierce could be getting close to eligibility and she still intends to make a comeback!
I don't understand it, either. Apparently, an exception has been made for Seles because she has not played in such a long time.
