Dominika Cibulkova defeated Dinara Safina today, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4, sealing her perfect record at the 2009 Hyundai Hopman Cup. Her partner, Dominik Hrbarty then defeated Marat Safin, 6-7, 7-5, 7-6. This victory eliminated the need for a doubles match: The Slovak Republic has won the 2009 Hopman Cup. (Perhaps The Guardian will even figure out the name of the winning players' country.)
