French Open--what they said

She deserved to win. One has to lose, one has to win. She deserves everything.
Francesca Schiavone

I didn't want to change my tennis, so I just tried to play my tennis and tried to keep her running.
Li Na

Li looked like a veteran on the slippery surface, chasing down Schiavone’s array of shots and firing precision two-handed backhands to the inside edges of all the lines.
John Branch

She played really deep, so I couldn't play my spin really high.
Francesca Schiavone

They use their brains more than the young ones are doing.
Michael Mortensen (Li Na's coach)

...I will go back to China after Wimbledon. If I didn't do well in the Wimbledon, maybe people forgotten me already. These are tough times.
Li Na

I think she served good percentage of serve. She prepared this kind of thing because she didn't want to play the second ball, to be attacked.
Francesca Schiavone

You may never have to buy a drink again, back in China. Everyone will buy you a drink.
Yeah, I'll drink a lot.
Li Na

A deserved win by Na Li. It should have been easier than she made it in the second set though.

I do feel good, and good for the Chinese players of our sport that Na Li is the 2011 Roland Garros Champion. Hope she gets another Grand Slam.

I'm happy for her, too--I would have been thrilled for either of them to win. Li has now become a real threat at majors, not just a threat "on a good day."
