Kuznetsova splits with coach

Svetlana Kuznetsova has ended her professional relationship with Stefan Ortega. Her new coach is former tour star Olga Morozova.

I know they were together for quite awhile so I hope that they ended on a good note.

But I'm always thrilled when there is another female coach on the WTA scene. Is Conchita Martinez coaching someone? Other than Srebotnik (sp?) I can't think of any others...

Daniilidou had a female coach, but I think she may have split from her. Gigi Fernandez coached Stosur for a while, but it was temporary because Fernandez didn't want to travel. Morozova used to coach Dementieva (but one wonders whether there was interference). There really should be more female coaches, and they should be coaching ATP as well as WTA.

This is good news for Sveta. She's been slumping all year. I hope Morozova could make Sveta go to the net as often as possible. She got Elena D. to do that when she was coaching her.

It must have been the Fernandez/Stosur combo I was thinking of when I mentioned Martinez.

Regarding the Morozova/Dementieva situation, do you mean possible interference on the part of Elena's mother? Hopefully her boyfriend sticks with his sport of choice : ) !

Just a side note for Kia, Martinez was coaching Shahar Peer, although I don't know if she still is.

Yes, Martinez was--and I think still may be--coaching Peer.

And yes, I meant I wondered whether Dementieva's mother clashed with Morozova. I don't usually speculate on things like that, but in this case, it seemed likely.
