Petkovic gets walkover to U.S. Open round of 16

Andrea Petkovic received a walkover in the third round of the U.S. Open today. Peng Shuai, who injured her wrist playing doubles, was not able to compete in the third round. Peng upset 9th seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the second round. Peng, who is no stranger to injury, also missed quite a bit of time on the tour this season because of illness.

Thank you for posting this...I couldn't find the reason for the walkover anywhere else.

You're welcome. It's most unfortunate.

Diane sending you hugs. What a way for Patty to go out. I enjoyed that match so much. Best match of the tournament so far on either men's or women's side.

Thanks, Karen.

I needed that :(

But yes, it was a terrific match.

I am so upset at Peng. Took out one of my faves and then goes and gets injured (yes I know it is not her fault) and then gives a walkover to Petko. I have to say that this year Petko became one of my faves, because I loved her fighting spirit but this dancing on the court after a win I find very off putting. I hope her next opponent puts her out of her misery.

Clearly her memory is short and she forgot how many times other players have sent her off the court in tears. Do not like that behaviour at all.

When Petkovic first came along, I enjoyed a lot about her. But now I find her "humor" and her rhetoric a bit self-conscious and forced, not to mention excessive. I would like it if she stopped talking, stopped dancing, and just played tennis.

Diane exactly. She has found a bunch of people who love her for this kind of behaviour, but she is now losing those fans who took note of her when she was an up and comer who just played tennis.

Nope off this bandwagon. And permanently
