Bien hecho!

Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez had never before been to the Sony Ericsson Championships. It was only this year, in fact, that they began playing together exclusively. Yesterday, they defeated Serena and Venus Williams in the semifinals, and their opponents in today's final were Cara Black and Liezel Huber, who make up the number 1 team in the world.

Llagostera Vives and Martinez Sanchez won, 7-6, 5-7, 10-7, and the first set tiebreak score was 7-0. This very big title is the seventh of the season for the Spanish team. It would have been impressive enough to have defeated either the Williams sisters or Black and Huber: Llagostera Vives and Martinez Sanchez defeated them both, making for a memorable championship.

Wow! What a match! All during the doubles tournament the commentators were saying that no all-Spanish duo had ever taken the title and did Nuria and María José ever prove them wrong! I'm SO happy for them.

I didn't get to see it; I wish I had. I had a feeling this was going to be the outcome, though. Nuria and Maria have become such a strong team.

I really enjoyed seeing all the doubles matches at Doha. When do we get to see that much? Well, I don't get the tennis channel and rely on ESPN or TennisTv.com. I thought both matches that Nuria and Maria played were exciting! I wish the WTA would take the YEC doubles more seriously like the ATP does. That way we could see more top doubles matches.

I love doubles and wish that the doubles draw had more matches. All the doubles matches went to a match tiebreak, very entertaining.

Tennis Channel is showing the doubles final again tomorrow, (4/11) from 4 to 5:30 pm ET and on Thursday morning (5/11) from 1 to 2:30 ET. Nuria and María José's semifinal is repeating today (3/11) from 4 - 5:30 p.m. ET and tomorrow morning from 1 to 2:30 am. I'm watching them again.

Thanks for posting the TV schedule, Mel. Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch them. Perhaps they will show them again some time.
