Friday cat blogging--Happy Birthday! edition

Roxie and Velma have their 8th birthdays some time this month. We don't know exactly when because they came to us as rescued kittens. The sisters have very different personalities. Roxie (tabby) likes to scream a lot and run the household; Velma (patch tortoriseshell) is talkative and mellow. They both like a lot of attention.

Enjoy as usual every week. My husband has the habit now of looking for these.

Just saw Sharapova beat Stosur. Was surprised that Stosur didn't keep the rallies going when her first serve wasn't working as well. Sharapova seemed to run over her.

Thanks, Sunny. They're always posing, so there's no shortage of photos!

Stosur looked lost, didn't she? With Sharapova, you just about have to keep the rallies going. If Stosur doesn't get control of a match at the start, she often has trouble taking control away from her opponent.

These two look as cute as my two rescues, Oscar and Trixie. They weren't kittens when we bought them so didn't have much of a future, yet they're as loveable as any. It's definitely more rewarding getting rescues, knowing you've transformed their lives for the good (and may even have saved them).

I agree. Roxie and Velma were born in a city across the lake. The woman who owned the house didn't want to feed the kittens, yet she'd never bothered to have the mother spayed. The kittens were lucky to be rescued.

Our two other cats, the brothers, were born in a feral colony, and they have various birth defects as a result--but nothing that can't be managed.

A birth defect or two seems to make them even more loveable. My cat Oscar has an enlarged lower jaw that makes him look like a feline Marlon Brando, yet he's the most gentle, friendly cat I've ever owned.
