A little over a week ago, Amelie Mauresmo decided not to play in Tokyo and Beijing, and now she has withdrawn from Linz and Luxembourg. Retirement, of course, is a real possibility, but for now, Mauresmo is just taking some time off to think about her future.

oh Diane, my heart totally sank when I first read that news but now I'm a little more cheerful as according to a poster on WTAworld MoMo is on the preliminary entry list for gold coast and sydney 2010. Now I just hope she doesn't retire and withdraw!

My instinct is that she is going to retire, but that she is is keeping her options open for a while, just in case. It makes me sad, too, Dani, just to think about it.
