Bacsinzky wins her first title

In the Luxembourg semifinals, she upset 5th seed and Yanina Wickmayer, and today, Timea Bacsinzky upset 6th seed Sabine Lisicki to win the BGL Luxembourg Open. Bacsinzky's 6-2, 7-5 victory gave her her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title.

The doubles title was won by 2nd seeds Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, who defeated Anabel Medina Garrigues and Carla Suarez Navarro 1-6, 6-0, 10-7.

The doubles result is correct, except that was the semifinal, today's score was 1-6/6-0/10-7 against Vladimira Uhlirova and Renata Voracova.

I saw the singles match and it was pretty good, even with all the unforced errors of Lisicki. Very nice final.

On the other hand, i had to deal with this person commenting the match and his unwillingness to pronounce either players name right: for him it was only Lisinsky playing both sides of the net ¬¬

Oops. I don't know how that happened. Thanks for the catch, Roi.

"Lisinsky" is even worse that "LiSIKi"--I don't think they'll ever get her name right.

Diane,

How DO you pronounce Sabine's surname? She was blogging this week from Luxembourg and I almost emailed to ask her.

Have a great vacation!

Thanks, Mel! We're in New York City. The weather is so nice, we've been spending a lot of time in Central Park.
