A preview of Sharapova's Australian Open outfits
Available at Women's Tennis Blog, and very good-looking, in my opinion.
Jankovic has another try, and has to retire again
After retiring very early in her Hopman Cup match against Tatiana Golovin, Jankovic must have had second thoughts about her hamstring injury; she attempted to play against Gisela Dulko, won the first set, and then had to retire again.
Serbia and the U.S. are in the Hopman Cup finals, which means that Jankovic has to play Serena Williams. If she forfeits the match, the U.S. will have a much better chance of winning the Cup. If she does not forfeit the match, her judgment is even worse than I thought it was. The Australian Open is just around the corner, and trying to play through another set (could she possibly go more than one set?) may put her out of commission for Melbourne.

Top seed falls at Gold Coast
Number 1 seed Nicole Vaidisova is out of the competition at the Mondial Women's Hardcourts tournament, having lost to Li Na, who defeated her 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, my two favorite players--Amelie Mauresmo and Patty Schnyder---played each other, and Schnyder was victorious, with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
Li and Schnyder will play each other in the semifinals, and the other semifinal will be between Shahar Peer and Victoria Azarenka. Peer saved three match points in her victory over Dinara Safina.

Mirza defeated again in Hopman Cup
Lucie Safarova defeated Sania Mirza, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Over the weekend, Mirza lost to Meghann Shaughnessy. The Indian player is having some type of difficulty with her back, but I do not know whether it is serious.
Erakovic takes out number 1 seed in Auckland
Playing in her home country, Marina Erakovic defeated ASB Classic number 1 seed Vera Zvonareva, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 to advance to the semifinals. The New Zealander hung in through numerous breaks of serve and held her nerve in the tiebreak.
Also advancing to the semifinals is Tamira Paszek, who took out number 2 seed Maria Kirilenko, 6-1, 6-3.

Schnyder advances at Gold Coast
Patty Schnyder got off to a bad start in her Mondial Women's Hardcourts match against Francesca Schiavone. Schnyder emerged the victor, however: 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and advanced to the quarterfinals.
Jankovic retires at Hopman Cup
Jelena Jankovic played one game against Tatiana Golovin at the Hopman Cup, then, feeling a terrible pain in her right hamstring, called it quits, giving Golovin a 0-1 victory. Jankovic fans have to wonder whether this is the start of Jankovic's paying for playing way too many matches in 2007. Or it could just be one of those things, and Jankovic wisely retired, rather than risk being injured for the Australian Open.
