Erakovic to miss most of clay court season

Marina Erakovic, who withdrew from the Sony Ericsson Open because of a stress reaction in her in her left hip, will take about six weeks off for injury recovery. She does hope to play at Roland Garros, however. Erakovic looked quite promising last season, but has not done that well lately, going out in the first round in three tournaments.

Black and Huber win Eastbourne

Cara Black and Liezel Huber defeated Kveta Peschke and Rennae Stubbs in Eastbourne today, 2-6, 6-0, 10-8, to win the championship.

Meanwhile, at the Ordina Open, Marina Erakovic and Michaella Krajicek defeated Liga Dekmeijere and Angelique Kerber, 6-3, 6-2, to take that title. Erakovic and Krajicek did not drop a set throughout the tournament.

Erakovic takes out number 1 seed in Auckland

Playing in her home country, Marina Erakovic defeated ASB Classic number 1 seed Vera Zvonareva, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 to advance to the semifinals. The New Zealander hung in through numerous breaks of serve and held her nerve in the tiebreak.

Also advancing to the semifinals is Tamira Paszek, who took out number 2 seed Maria Kirilenko, 6-1, 6-3.
