It must be love

We've all seen Kim Clijsters go off for a while in the middle of a match. Today, she had all kinds of problems at the beginning of a match. The defending champion and 2nd seed played Wimbledon semifinalist Petra Kvitova, who got off to a roaring start when Clijsters could not get her serve in.

Kvitova broke Clijsters right away, then went up 40-0. Her first service game eventually went to deuce, but she won it with a good second serve on her first ad point. Clijsters then double-faulted twice in a row, played a point, then double-faulted again. Soon it was 1-3, however, and that was pretty much the end of the error-prone, wild-hitting Kvitova. Clijsters just kept winning games, and wound up with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Kvitova made 29 unforced errors to Clijsters' 15.

Things didn't go too well for 24th seed Daniela Hantuchova, either. She had three break points in her first set against 12th seed Elena Dementieva, but managed to lose all of them. After that, Dementieva took control of the match, winning it 7-5, 6-2.

5th seed Sam Stosur had easy 6-2, 6-3 win over Sara Errani. Stosur hit 37 winners. And 20th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenko had an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Gisela Dulko.
