Hopman Cup to begin on December 30

The Hyundai Hopman Cup begins in Perth on December 28 and will conclude on January 4. Here are the teams for 2014:

GROUP A

Australia: Samantha Stosur, Bernard Tomic
Canada: Eugenie Bouchard, Milos Raonic
Italy: Flavia Pennetta, Andreas Seppi
Poland: Agnieszka Radwanska, Jerzy Janowicz

GROUP B
Czech Republic: Petra Kvitova, Radek Stepanek
France: Alize Cornet, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Spain: Anabel Medina Garrigues, Tommy Robredo
USA: Sloane Stephens, John Isner

The event will begin with Poland playing Italy. Spain is the defending champion.

Good field this year, and some very intriguing women's singles match-ups, too. Especially in Group A. Though, of course, I'm sure the Kvitova/Stepanek pairing will get the most attention.

Of the eight women, we've got two who have won slams, a slam finalist and two more who've made slam semis over the past three seasons.

I think it's a great group, too. Tommy Robredo is King of Hopman Cup, so Spain is strong just by showing up, especially since he's in the midst of a comeback.

Australia potentially has a strong chance this year, too. I'm so glad that Flavia is playing for Italy!
