They don't call her consistent for nothing

For the second year in a row, Agnieszka Radwanska has suffered defeat in the first round of the Aegon International. The top seed lost today to qualifier Jamie Hampton, who defeated her 7-6, 6-2. Last year, when Radwanska was also the top seed, the Polish star was overcome in the opening round by the grass court danger otherwise known as Tsvetana Pironkova.

Actually, Radwanska's "consistency" could serve her well at Wimbledon. Last year, she left Eastbourne for London, played extremely well, and made it all the way to the final, in which she lost to Serena Williams.

Radwanska wasn't the only one. Defending champion Tamira Paszek was taken out in the first round today by Caroline Wozniacki.

Paszek was out in the second round of Birmingham as well as 1st of Eastbourne. I hope she isn't too badly hurt. She is somewhat like Pironkova-a Wimbledon savant.

She used to get injured all the time. Hard to figure, that one. And what does it say that we can call an all-baseline-all-the-time player a Wimbledon event?

No comment on Caro? ;-) She has a chance to break her stunning record: one victory in a row! lol Whatever Robson has to say about that, go Caro!!!

I'm holding my breath about Woz. It was a nice first-round win for her, and Robson is pretty inconsistent, so anything can happen.

Li and Bartoli coming up, too.

Petra. They don't call her inconsistent for nothing. Up a break more than once in the third set. Bad body language. Wickmayer-great body language, breaks several times and wins it. Petra is mentally lost. Sad to see. Perhaps she'd rather return to her life in Fulnek, marry and raise children. Not bad at all, but more and more of a likely turn.

I just saw that result (the broadcast is blacked out where I am). I'm glad I didn't actually see the match, though.

Stosur lost, too, and Marion did a walkover.

So much for grass court preparation.....
