Kanepi out of Birmingham in 2nd round

Kaia Kanepi, the top seed in Birmingham, was upset in the second round today by qualifier Arina Rodionova. Rodionova beat Kanepi 6-4, 6-2.

In first round play, Caroline Garcia was defeated by qualifier Naomi Broady, who hit 20 aces in her 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 victory.

    Heather Watson is so lovely!

    I hadn't taken much notice of her previously, but her personality just shines through.

    Hope she maintains her happy disposition throughout her career...
