Sharapova withdraws from Dubai
Maria Sharapova says she played Doha with a cold and somehow pushed herself through to the end. But now she is suffering with full-blown symptoms, including fatigue, and so she has withdrawn from the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.

Amelie's chances of making some noise in Dubai just increased by rather a lot. Kuznetsova in the quarters is tough, but before Maria withdrew Amelie's draw was just murder.
In fact, I wonder if the fact that Sharapova's draw was also absurdly difficult (Szavay, Mauresmo, Kuznetsova, Jankovich, Henin -- ever see a rougher 5 matches in 5 days? I haven't, I don't think.) had anything to do with her decision not to play through the cold? ;>
She really did have the draw from hell, and I think she got a bit of odd luck in developing the cold in Doha. All that play was only going to make the cold worse, and yes, I doubt if she's that disappointed that she doesn't have to face at least some of those players.
