Flipkens upsets Cibulkova in Quebec City

Top seed Dominika Cibulkova is out of the Bell Challenge, upset 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the first round by Kirsten Flipkens. Cibulkova served for the match in the third set.

Flipkens defeated Mirjana Lucic to win her second round.

Lauren Davis beat 2nd seed Yanina Wickmayer 6-1, 6-1 in the second round. Both Wickmayer and Cibulkova got into the event with wild cards.

In Tashkent, top seed Monica Niculescu went out to Karin Knapp (Italian inspiration?) in the first round. Knapp, however, lost in the next round.

Irina-Camelia Begu has had an impressive run so far. She defeated Akgul Amanmuradova in the first round, 3rd seed Alize Cornet in the second round, and 8th seed Galina Voskoboeva in the third, after going down 2-5 in the final set. Begu's opponent in the quarterfinals will be 2nd seed Urszula Radwanska.
