Bali draw
Since there are only eight players in the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions, and since the round-robin format has been eliminated, all players have received a bye in the first round. Here is the draw for the second round:
Not to be rude, but I have lost track of why this tournament exists and what it is about. They have lost the uniqueness of the round robin format which showcases the players more, so if it is going to be a straight tournament, what is the point? Besides there should be one tour championship; the one played by the best players. I am not sure what this consolation prize means.
I've been saying that all along, Sunny. I don't like having a "not good enough to be in the top 8" tournament. The idea, I think, was to give the Bali tournament a boost by changing it to something "important." If the WTA insists on having it, it certainly shouldn't be played after the Championships, and it should still be in round-robin format.
Perhaps the change to knock-out format indicates the beginning of the end.
