Gisela Dulko retired in her match against Coco Vandewegh in San Diego today. She has a sprained right ankle. No word yet on how serious the injury is.
In Copenhagen, 3rd seed Petra Kvitova was defeated 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 by Sorana Cirstea, and top seed Caroline Wozniacki defeated Petra Martic 6-3, 6-2.
Both British players, Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha, won their first round matches, defeating Sofia Arvidsson and Marina Erakovic, respectively.
Kvitova doesn't seem to be maintaining her Wimbledon form. I might have said this before but it has been a difficult summer.
ReplyDeleteSame goes for Pironkova. Some talented players like those two (and I really like watching Pironkova) make a splash at a given moment, but they don't sustain the momentum.
ReplyDeleteDnt know what to say at this situation but its really sad that Dulko out due to an ankle injury.
