Karatantcheva and Groth get last Australian Open wild cards

The Asian wild card into the Australian Open has been given to Sesil Karatantcheva, and the other remaining one has been given to Australian player Jarmila Groth. The 8 wild cards are:

Olivia Rogowska
Alicia Molik
Jarmila Groth
Casey Dellacqua
Sesil Karatantcheva
Stephanie Cohen-Aloro
Coco Vandeweghe

  1. I really thought they will end up by changing their mind and give Wickmayer a wild card....

    Have a question : I've read somewhere that if Wickmaryer manages to get into the main draw, as she is world n°16, she will be seeded.

    But how are they gonna do that giving that as the main draw will be released on Friday, while we will not know yet who get trough qualification ?

  2. Nath, I'm pretty sure that the ITF rules say she has to be seeded, so I'm confused, too. If they ignore the rules, I would want the WTA to object, but fat chance of that.
