Amelie Mauresmo delivered revenge with a capital R today in Paris, when she defeated Sara Errani, 6-2, 6-0 in the first round of the Open GDF SUEZ. Errani defeated Mauresmo last week in Fed Cup competition.
And speaking of Italians, Jelena Jankovic just squeaked past Francesca Schiavone, 7-5, 7-6.
In Pattaya City, wild card Noppowan Lertcheewakarn, who is junior world number 1, lost in the first round to Shahar Peer, with a score of 6-1, 6-0.
wow when I thought revenge I didn't imagine momo could come up with a score like that! well done to her.
ReplyDeletenow we are just left to scratch our heads about France's lack luster fed cup rubbers vs Italy for the last 3 years...

Dani, Diane, did you see the match? I knew it was up and coming on Eurosport - got myself all settled and ready on the couch, plus cats, and bottle of Lucozade Sport drink, and bar of chocolate, and had an afternoon of sheer delight: she played like she did at her best, looked magnificent in bright red, and it was an all round momofest for me :)
ReplyDeleteso good to see her like that again - long may it continue. Allez. Amelie!
It wasn't broadcast here, Claire, and the Tennis TV broadcasts didn't begin until today. But I'm glad you got to see it!.
ReplyDeletejust watched her next match - she won in two sets but it was by no means as easy a win as the score line implies: main thing is, she won, though... :)
ReplyDeleteI was able to watch the last part of that one on Tennis TV--not too well, because I was at a work site--but well enough to know that the scoreline did not reflect what went on.
ReplyDeletehi Crafty!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tennis coverage on tv except for ASB clasic. arghh
from all the reports I've read sounds like momo is back to her old (2006) self. *drool* I can only hope match videos/highlights pop up on youtube sometime soon.
Dani
Dani, can you not get Tennis TV where you are?
ReplyDeleteI can, but due to the time differences I'm either at work/asleep/out when most of the matches are on! grrr. plus internet service in NZ is such a rip off. (too slow and too expensive - even though I have broad band, I won't be able to have enough GB to watch all the matches I want!

Ah, that's too bad. Though so far, Tennis TV hasn't been a picnic in the park for me. I had some serious problems, fixed them (on my own, despite Tennis TV's attempts to help, and my ISP's attempts to help), but I still find it freezes a lot. Better than nothing, though. The Paris semifinals and finals will be on real TV in the U.S.
