Pennetta was not the only seed who went out of Hobart tonight. 4th seed Zheng Jie was defeated, 6-3, 6-3 by Gisela Dulko, and 7th seed Alona Bondarenko was defeated, 6-2, 6-1, by Petra Kvitova.
The second round is over, and there are no seeds remaining in Hobart.
There was also a retirement: Urzula Radwanska retired against Melinda Czink in the first set.
Now that all seeds are out, I have a feeling that Nastya Pavlyuchenkova will either reach the finals or win her maiden title at this event.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good opportunity for Pavlyuchenkova, yes. I'm watching Dulko, too. If she continues to play at her top level, she also has a shot at the title. She's been on a roll since Hopman Cup.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Dulko. Another enigma. It would be really nice if she could pull off her maiden title as well here.
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed with Dulko, and count Domachowska in as well. A few years ago, I touted them as the ones to watch but I don't know what happened to them.
Dulko has won three titles, but she should have won more.
ReplyDeleteHopman Cup? Argentina didn't play that this year.
ReplyDeleteHong Kong is what I meant.
