Parmentier out in Forest Hills

Pauline Parmentier, the top seed at the Forest Hills Tennis Classic, is out of the competition. She was defeated by Peng Shuai, 6-3, 6-2. I was a bit surprised to find that Jamea Jackson had defeated Marina Erakovic, 7-6, 7-5. Also winning was Carla Suarez Navarro, who defeated Timea Backsinszky. Finally, Lucie Safarova defeated Akgul Amanmuradova.

    Sorry to correct you, Diane, but Safarova actually won that match 6-7 6-3 6-3, and has shown some good form last couple of weeks, which makes me very happy.

    Wow. The scoreboard I'm looking at says she lost. Thanks for letting me know, David. Sometimes it's scoreboard blues when I don't get the usual live scoring. I'll make a correction in the post. I hope the other scores are correct--they came off of the same scoreboard.

    It isn't unusual for one of the unofficial scoreboards to be wrong. But there was no regular scoreboard available for this small tournament.

    Is the Forest Hills tournament over? Does anyone have the schedule? Does anyone know what happened to the Hamlet Cup? I used to get invitations to that and they stopped? Thanks for any info you can share.

    Lucie Safarova won Forest Hills. She beat Peng Shuai in the final.

    2005 was the last year for the Hamlet Cup. I don't think another sponsor ever picked it up.
