We'll have to wait to see Sharapova
She is not hitting the hard courts until July 28, when she plays in the Rogers Cup in Montreal. The last time she played in the Rogers Cup was in 2004, when she was a late entrant.
The tournament in San Diego no longer exists. The omission is not part of the new tour calendar--the tournament announced in 2006 that 2007 would be its final year.
wasn't it a tier 1? strange...do you know what happens to the points from the previous year? Not being a huge sharapova fan...I'm not too concerned if they drop off her
It was a Tier I, and I don't know what happens to points, David. Good question. My best guess is that--since none of the players can defend her points, each gets to just keep them as is.
I think that they will loose their points in august. The same thing happened with tournament in Tokyo (tier I, http://www.toray-ppo.co.jp/web/pc/english/2008profile/ ) which is moved to september. Players lost the points in february.
what happened to the tournament in san diego?
ReplyDeleteIs it removed due to the olympics?
