I came very close to putting her on the “watch” list, in fact.Dianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07124489754017593105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-229616072187725718.post-2365418870870448752017-12-20T12:40:24.891-06:002017-12-20T12:40:24.891-06:00So many good stories heading into 2018, although I...So many good stories heading into 2018, although I am firmly on the Gavrilova train myself.colt13https://www.blogger.com/profile/18003693202810270993noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-229616072187725718.post-76859029105206023322017-12-18T08:52:46.616-06:002017-12-18T08:52:46.616-06:00Good point about Osaka and Bajin. Right when things were looking up with the end of her '17 season, she lets Bajin go and, well, much of my "top end" optimism (as far as a slam result in '18) dried up with the move. That said, it'd be easy to see her regaining the #1 ranking, however briefly it might be.

Serena and Vika are both in the category of players that it wouldn't be all that surprising to see them finally return and hit the ground running with great success, but are equally players we might end up seven months from now admitting our expectations may have been a bit to high for and we should have known it was going to take some time for them to once again be more "like themselves."

The one person I'd include in your list of players to keep an eye on would be Osaka. She didn't quite make the leap in '17 that many expected, so she's probably due to bounce back well, but the addition of "Big Sascha" in his first true coaching mission could be the case of the proverbial match lighting the flame.Todd.Spikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16455101522360257651noreply@blogger.com
