This was, to some extent, explained to us in Australia. We were told that at Wimbledon, they have to give everyone equal chances, and that means giving everyone the opportunity to play on centre or court 1, and chakvetadze, vaidisova, kuznetsova and radwanska all hadn't yet, and that's why these matches were chosen for the main courts. However, having 4 mens and 2 womens matches on these courts was stupid, and I think either venus or serena should have replaced one of the mens matches.
I understand all that until you get to the quarterfinals, and then, I agree that it is inexcusable to put the number 2 seed and the defending champion on other courts. Putting the number 2 seed on court 18 was especially crazy.
