I think that having the other person there probably made her feel secure. I've seen that before with good players who can't quite keep it together in singles.

But with Stosur, you really do have to wonder, don't you? Talk about self-fulfilling prophecy.Dianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07124489754017593105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-229616072187725718.post-22810577266357146362013-01-16T11:07:50.123-06:002013-01-16T11:07:50.123-06:00Diane, love your write up. It is one thing to not be able to compete in your home tournament. Many players suffer from that, but lest we forget, she has not won a title since her surprising USO victory, which the more time passes, the more it seems like a fluke.

How can someone with as big a game as Stosur, manage to only have 3 titles? Clearly, there is something wrong there. As for doubles, she must count herself lucky that she had Stubbs and then Raymond who clearly made her look good out there on court.

I have given up feeling any sympathy for this woman. If she was performing at other events, I would say maybe the issue is indeed her home tournament, but it is not.

I totally agree with you re Zheng. I think a lot of people forget how with proper technique and the ability to find your mark, even the most mediocre serve can bail you out (looking at you Olga Govortsova)Overhead Spinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13838462340734632101noreply@blogger.com
