About the blog author

Diane Elayne Dees is a writer who, for five years, published The Dees Diversion, a blog about liberalism, feminism, the liberation of non-humans, social mores, and the WTA. Diane also blogged two and a half years for the Mother Jones MoJo Blog, and for five years, she and her husband were the webmasters of Princess Cafe, the world's only virtual rock and roll restaurant. Diane, who is a psychotherapist in private practice, has published many short stories, poems, essays, and creative nonfiction pieces; she is currently concentrating on poetry.

Diane is also a life-long fan of women's tennis. Her favorite current WTA players are Jelena Jankovic, Francesca Schiavone, Petra Kvitova, Flavia Pennetta, Agnieszka Radwanska, and Marion Bartoli. She also enjoys a number of other players, including Vera Zvonareva, Maria Kirilenko, Li Na, and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, as well as some lower-ranked players whose games are varied and interesting.

This season, Diane is keeping an eye on Bojana Jovanovki, Julia Goerges, Christina McHale, Tamira Paszek, Sania Mirza, and Aravane Rezai.
