Mauresmo to go it alone for the rest of the season

Thanks to a tip from reader Dani, I have learned that Amelie Mauresmo has decided to play the rest of the season without her long-time coach, Loic Courteau. At the end of the season, they will make a decision regarding whether he will resume coaching her next year. Mauresmo and Courteau are quite close, and this was probably a difficult decision for them, even if it turns out to be just temporary. Both player and coach are feeling frustrated.

Mauresmo has also split from (not temporarily) her physiotherapist, Michel Franco.

prior to Loic, Amelie was infamous for dumping coaches. To be honest I'm suprised that he lasted this long looking at her results in the past 2 years.

Loic has said before (forgot when) that he has given all he can to Amelie, if she wants to go any higher she'll need someone else.

p.s. I would lovvveee to see Johnny Mac coach Amelie. He seems to know her game pretty well and is favourable to her style of play.

I remember reading that Amelie used to dump coaches quickly (a la Petrova). Something really clicked between her and Courteau, but it is probably a good idea for her to get some fresh perspective. I could say that about a lot of players with long-time coaches. Including French players who almost won Wimbledon...

...when family members get involved it can get a bit too complicated...

you can dump them professionally but you still have to (live with) them...
