Erakovic takes out number 1 seed in Auckland

Playing in her home country, Marina Erakovic defeated ASB Classic number 1 seed Vera Zvonareva, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 to advance to the semifinals. The New Zealander hung in through numerous breaks of serve and held her nerve in the tiebreak.

Also advancing to the semifinals is Tamira Paszek, who took out number 2 seed Maria Kirilenko, 6-1, 6-3.

Vera Zvonereva didn't win the ASB Classic last year; she was the runner-up to Jelena Jankovic.

Vera has twice been the runner up at ASB classic. good job to Marina...she hung on and fought hard! the crowd went mad at the end! can't wait to watch her tomorrow!
